Austin is a great place to live and work for it is a growing hub for technology and innovation. A majority of the industries here is focused on making software computers, semiconductor products, wireless technology and digital media. If you are interested in computer technologies or is a graduate of a computer-related course, Austin is the best place for you to go.

Austin serves as the headquarters for Dell Inc., the largest computer systems manufacturer and information technology corporation in the world. Other computer engineering corporations that have made a home in this city include IBM Corporation’s Austin Research Laboratory (ARL), Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), National Instruments and Sun Microsystems. Apple, 3M, Hewlett-Packard and Google also have offices in this area. Because of the many computer technologies that were established in this region, it gained Austin the name as “The Silicon Hills of the Southwest”.

Samsung Electronics from South Korea has its only factory in the US situated in Austin, too. Recently, Samsung Austin Semiconductor announced that they are expanding their business to a whopping $3.6 billion dollars and they didn’t choose any other city but remained in Austin. This is so as they continually wish to draw from the city’s heritage as a semiconductor manufacturing area. Plus, there’s the support system and the brilliant source of workforce from the University of Texas that they can immediately tap into.

Because of Austin’s prime location with less traffic, affordable housing, milder climate and excellent academic institutions, it is announced that this city will soon become a home for other innovative technology corporations like Eco-Merge Green Corporate Center. There are also reports that global companies such as Toshiba and Taiwan Clean Energy have plans of opening up their firms here.
